This position is responsible for the safe and profitable operation of the Insulated Glass Fabrication portions of Vitro Architectural Glass operations. These responsibilities include managing the fabrication and delivery of flat glass products and, along with supporting staff, overseeing all aspects of operations and production control.
The incumbent ensures that the facility is in compliance with all aspects of Vitro’s Environment, Health and Safety requirements to ensure a safe and environmentally sound workplace.
The incumbent is responsible for delivering maximum operational efficiency and lowest possible cost, and making sure that spending is within budget, while meeting customer quality and delivery requirements.
Under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor the Industrial Mechanic will be required to maintain machinery and equipment at Vitro Industries facility (WorksNo. 15). The plant is a 24/7 operation. The Industrial Mechanic is responsible for the repair, replacement and fabrication of Mechanical, Electrical, Pneumatic and Hydraulic equipment associated with the operation of the plant. The Industrial Mechanic will interface with and be responsible for working in conjunction with other personnel throughout the plant to insure the safety and integrity of the plant, process and personnel. The Industrial Mechanic works on scheduled and non-scheduled maintenance and repairs as they occur through out the plant and perform work of an emergency nature to keep criticalproduction equipment in service. The Industrial Mechanic works in a variety of
environments on tasks that require moderate to heavy lifting; climbing, gaining access to moving machinery, working from scaffolds, operating mobile equipment and powered equipment and is subject to tasking that will require breathing, noise, temperature and chemical hazard safety considerations. The Industrial Mechanic position is best described as physically and mentally demanding. The engineer’s general function is to execute experiments to develop coating deposition processes and the operating parameters with different precursors to achieve the desired product attributes. This individual will also support the design, fabrication, maintenance, and improvement of laboratory and plant-level equipment (including equipment for sample preparation, test, and measurement), and develop new experimental methods, in support of R&D and non-R&D customers. Responsible for supporting Production by performing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain production and facility equipment according to safety, predictive and preventive maintenance.
We are looking to hire a skilled process engineer to oversee the design and implementation of our wareroom processes. As a process engineer, you will be responsible for developing and implementing process strategies, managing process resources, optimizing current processes, and maintaining process documents. You will become an expert with regards to production equipment, understand how to operate, change the settings, and optimize the equipment. Ultimately, your job is to maintain the efficiency of production in order to reduce costs.
To ensure success as a process engineer you should have extensive experience in process design, excellent technical skills, and high-level analytical skills. A top-class process engineer can analyze a process system and implement simple yet effective changes to boost production.
Vitro, North America's largest manufacturer of architectural and automotive glass is currently seeking a Glass/Ceramic/Chemical Engineer for their Tank Department at its Meadville, PA location. The basic function of this position is to direct the batching, melting, and forming operations according to current management policies and established operating parameters and procedures, in order to meet plant goals regarding safety, quality, production, costs, productivity, housekeeping, and employee relations.
The Tank Department consists of two 600 tons per day capacity tanks operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Automotive black and green glasses are produced in many thicknesses on one tank. Clear for the solar market will be produced on the second tank. Mixed ingredients are fed from the batch plant into the two tanks and melted in temperature that exceed 2900ºF. The molten glass flows from these tanks into respective baths of molten tin where it floats on the tin surface, thereby creating a ribbon of glass with parallel surfaces and uniform thickness. The glass is then conveyed to the rolls in the annealing lehr where it is cooled to room temperature. After cooling, the glass is delivered to the Wareroom for inspection, cutting, packing and shipping

The incumbent is primarily responsible for ensuring the continuous operation of plant instrumentation and CCTV equipment of the plant by maintaining, testing, calibrating, troubleshooting and creating documentation for process instrumentation equipment. In accordance with California law, the expected salary range for this California position is between $23.00-$34.00 hr. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
Productionpositions require lifting & carrying, packing, loading, cleaning, operating equipment, and/or general utility duties in a glass manufacturing plant. Those hired will be required to work 12 hour shifts in a 24/7 operation. Production workers starting wage rate is $18.50/hr. with benefits. After successful completion of a 6-month probation period, the wage rate will increase to $18.99/hr. with another increase at 1 yr. to $19.48/hr. with the potential of $20.73/hr. based on time in the position.
