Job Description


The maintenance department provides services for installation, maintenance and improvement of plant equipment and facilities.  The department is composed of three major groups, Engineering, which includes Electrical/Process Control and Mechanical, Maintenance which includes all of the major industrial crafts, Receiving and Storeroom.  The major activity of the Maintenance department is the installation and maintenance of production equipment requiring technical and engineering support for design, improvement, procurement and troubleshooting of process equipment.

There are no exempt or non-exempt personnel that report regularly to the incumbent.  However, the Engineering Associate does supervise craft type personnel for the installation phase of projects.

The person in this position communicates regularly with the Enterprise Excellence Manager on significant maintenance functions and assists in initiating plans for the improvement and expansion of production and plant facilities.  The incumbent assists in coordinating and scheduling of engineering and maintenance activities.

The person in this position works closely with other departments in determining electrical or process control needs for all plant facilities.

The incumbent assists in the preparation of cost estimates and authorization requests for management evaluation and is in frequent contact with purchasing and storeroom to ensure the availability of critical parts and materials.

The person in this position must support departmental and company goals with regard to achieving the highest levels of safety, quality, housekeeping and environmental standards.

The Engineering Associate is a member of the Enterprise Excellence Manager staff.  The person in this position also participates in the monthly staff safety meeting which reviews the department and plant safety performance and seeks to identify safety related issues and solutions.  The incumbent may be assigned by the Enterprise Excellence Manager as chairman of a team of peers to accomplish a task.



Job Requirements

This position requires a college degree in Electrical Engineering with six or more years experience.  The incumbent must have and demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of engineering principles and sound technical judgment.  Expertise required ranges from computer programming for process control to control systems and power distribution.  Knowledge of human relations and the ability to work with all levels of plant supervision, P&M personnel, external contractors and vendors is essential.
