Job Description


To assist Maintenance department and the plant as a whole to ensure sound, safe engineering principles are used in the areas of design, installations, fabrication, start-up and modification of equipment, and to conduct maintenance activities such as trouble shooting, setting up critical spare parts, support of training programs, and ensure that jobs are performed in accordance with Vitro standards.

The maintenance department provides services for installation, maintenance and improvement of plant equipment and facilities.  The department is composed of three major groups, Engineering, which includes Electrical/Process Control and Mechanical, Maintenance which includes all of the major industrial crafts, Receiving and Storeroom.  The major activity of the Maintenance department is the installation and maintenance of production equipment requiring technical and engineering support for design, improvement, and procurement and troubleshooting of process equipment.

The Engineering Associate - Project communicates regularly with the Enterprise Excellence Manager and other departments to determine the mechanical maintenance needs for all plant facilities.  The incumbent must maintain effective and harmonious relationships with all departments, based on prompt, courteous and effective service.

The incumbent assists in the preparation of cost estimates and authorization requests for management evaluation.  He designs, tests, and installs new and improved mechanical equipment that will increase the efficiency and performance of plant production processes.

The Engineering Associate - Project attends monthly safety meetings whereby he contributes significantly to the planning of the Maintenance department activities and the formulation of Maintenance department safety policies.



Job Requirements

Engineering degree (Preferred in Manufacturing, Mechanical or Reliability)

Plant equipment operation and maintenance experience required. 5 years or more preferred

Proficiency with 3D & 2D design and Microsoft Office a plus

  1. Modify and improve existing equipment to increase reliability and functionality
  2. Monitor and maintain HVAC, chilled water, hot water, compressed air, and water treatment
  3. Trouble shoot breakdowns with maintenance to aid in quick return to production
  4. Evaluate breakdowns to root cause and develop long-term solutions
  5. Develop preventative maintenance for equipment to prevent downtime
  6. Specify, purchase, and coordinate installation of new equipment
  7. Work closely with production engineers, machine shops, fabrication shops, and Vitro Engineering
