Job Description


The Process Engineer (MSVD) is responsible to support the vacuum coater operation on a day to day basis as well as provide process development and continuous improvement. This function is to be done according to current management policies and established operating parameters and procedures, in order to meet plant goals regarding safety, quality, production, costs, productivity, housekeeping, and employee relations. 

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

    • The primary responsibility of the Coater Engineer is to meet the daily operational needs of the Carlisle Coaters with a focus on improving process, increasing coater efficiency, improving product quality, and training Coater Operators.   
    • The Engineer must maintain open communications with Coater Operators to ensure process problems are understood and eliminated and to identify areas of potential improvements. 
    • Safety, Health & Environment - Provide a safe and healthy work environment to minimize injuries and health concerns to employees while ensuring adherence to environmental standards and policies. 
    • Quality – Maintain and encourage a strong quality process in the Coater Department which emphasizes the need for every employee to achieve conformance to defined requirements 100% of the time.  This includes compliance to established procedures and specifications. 
    • Production – Coordinating daily coater operations to include providing technical expertise to coater operations to assure safe and efficient daily operation.  This includes being readily available during off-shifts to provide support, oversight and direction to Operators or Maintenance when issues arise. 
    • Training - Provides training to Operators in an effort to improve quality and safety as well as reduce down time. 
    • Staff – Support all Coater Operators and Engineers to ensure a smooth running and efficient operation that meets the plant and department objectives and goals.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (preferably mechanical, electrical or equivalent) is required
  • 1-5 years related production/process experience  
  • A working knowledge of computer aided-design equipment and computerized processes is preferred
  • strong technical knowledge of glass cutting, edging and bending for the automotive industry 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) for interactions with management, peers, other associates, vendors and contractors
  • Ability to trouble-shoot, analyze and resolve problems, plan, organize and share information
  • Ability to work independently and manage projects to established timelines as performance is measured against project goals and specific assignments
