Job Description


This position will coordinate the successful launch of new value added products at multiple US Value Add locations. Maintain positive relationships with Program Management, Product and Plant engineering, equipment vendors and OEM customers. Primary duties include Project Management, equipment scopes, cost estimates, timelines, and vendor management. Also, feasibility assessments for future products as needed.

This position provides technical and engineering support to both Vitro and Tier 2 value added assembly locations that will ensure reliability and the optimum safe use of the facilities, equipment, and resources to meet customer requirements and plant objectives. The incumbent will be responsible for assigned projects and support the various areas of the plant's facilities. As such, the incumbent ensures appropriate facilities and equipment are available and ready to use for product fabrication. These requirements are based on customer specifications and blueprints and are achieved by working with both customer and vendor representatives. The incumbent will design and implement production process modifications and engineering projects to increase plant safety, quality, efficiency, reduce variable costs, and will also provide technological guidance and assistance in equipment operation and maintenance. He/she will also develop project plans related to engineering assignments and assist in developing short and medium range plans and provide information for the preparation of both expense and capital requests related to plant and project engineering needs.

The incumbent will be responsible for making equipment design decisions that positively impact the plant’s ability to meet process capability based on customer specifications.  The incumbent will also provide cost estimates for future programs that show an attainable cost improvement from current state.

Will maintain a positive working relationship with key equipment vendors, Program Management, Design and Plant Engineering as well as maintaining a good working relationship with OEM customers and sub-suppliers.



Job Requirements

Bachelors degree in engineering or related degree. 5+ years of demonstrated engineering experience in a manufacturing or fabricating environment.

Experience in the automotive industry is preferred. Experience with equipment that attaches components to automotive glass is strongly preferred.

  1. Successful launch and ramp-up of all value add programs meeting timing, financial and manufacturing targets.
  2. Value added process equipment that successfully passes an OEM customer run at rate to customer blueprint specifications.
  3. Complete PFMEAs, Control Plans and Process Flow Diagrams for all value add processes that address all potential quality issues and include a risk reduction plan.
  4. Coordinate Operator training with Site HR prior to launch
  5. Develop SOP’s for Operators to use
  6. Accurate and timely cost estimates as needed.
  7. Develop Equipment standards for VA equipment across the business
  8. Develop Maintenance routines for Installed equipment


Additionally, the incumbent will manage equipment vendors so that key timing and budget milestones are met over the course of a capital project. Interface directly with Program Management, Product Engineering, Process Engineering and OEM customers to ensure that equipment is designed to meet all operations and customer specifications.  Provide technical support on value added customer spills to minimize the negative effects on the customer. Provide cost estimates for future value add programs.
