Vitro’s Evansville, IN plant is hiring a Quality Engineer. The Quality Engineer is responsible for responding to customer complaints in a timely manner and verifying process quality improvements that have been implemented. Additionally, this position requires ensuring that the requirements of the quality system are being followed and to seek areas for improvement, quality planning and training in order to support the department and plant goals. This function has responsibilities that also include supplier quality aspects, customer contact and follow-up.

Primary role and responsibilities include:

Customer interface – perform all activities related to responding to customer quality issues, including issuing applicable notices of problems and non-conformance and monitoring customer systems. In particular, this position requires a strong understanding of root cause analysis and corrective action implementation. PFMEA and Control Plan understanding is a must, as these documents will be in regular use.

  • Adhere to IATF16949 policies and procedures; assisting with all documentation related to the Quality System. Participate in all audits and implement corrective actions from audits to maintain certification status and comply with good business practices.
  • Participate in areas of quality planning including specification sheet reviews for new programs.
  • Utilize quality tools as a resource in problem-solving and process improvements, including customer forms.
  • Perform Layered Process Audits as a representative of the Quality Department.

Job Requirements

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering 
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of Quality-related experience in a manufacturing environment, with a general knowledge of glass fabrication preferred
  • Quality Assurance experience is preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Problem solving, interpersonal skills and listening skills are essential when interfacing with production and maintenance groups to understand root cause and implement good corrective actions
  • Good understanding of root cause analysis with ability to logically ask the right questions when investigating an issue
