Job Description


We are seeking a Sales Representative to join our team.  The ideal candidate will contribute to the sales and profit objectives of the business through planned sales coverage and service to assigned accounts and prospective customers.  Implement timely and accurate communications regarding customer requirements, business opportunities and issues, and competitive intelligence.  Maintain a working knowledge of Flat Glass products, marketing segments and plans, the customer base, internal customer service and administrative systems.  Investigate opportunities to improve profitability of existing business to meet SBU goals.  Assist the business in the movement of surplus glass and improve working capital via inventory reduction.

Key Roles & Responsibilities:

    1. Build and maintain solid relationships with company owners and/or senior executives, operations, quality, accounting and sales personnel of all customers in territory.
    2. Maintain product knowledge, use of Vitro Flat Glass Products and comparable competitive products throughout marketplace.
    3. Gain clear understanding of existing customers’ needs and how Vitro Flat Glass Products and other services support their success throughout the marketplace.
    4. Increase Territory profitability thru reduced cost to service accounts, identify profitable growth opportunities (e.g., improve value-added mix, etc.) within the territory at customer and prospect locations.
    5. Secure glass orders and Supply Agreements (where applicable).
    6. Attain/Exceed Territory Sales Volumes for Commodity and Value- Added Products.
    7. Excel at formal Territory & Account Management by maintaining needed paperwork to manage the territory, including Territory and Account Plans, timely quality credits for customers, weekly reports, timely expense account statements and company car maintenance.

Job Requirements

Basic Qualifications:

  • Business or technical degree, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of five years related experience 
  • Strong interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with all customer levels (business owners, purchasing personnel, operations personnel, sales personnel and accounting personnel)
  • Strong communications skills in writing, product and service presentations, public speaking and one to one negotiations
  • Self-motivated
  • Willingness to travel 60-75% of time
  • Preferable: Knowledge of Flat Glass products, markets and customers
  • Time and territory management skills
  • Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Some of the work will require exposure to loud noises or fumes in the plant facility.
