As a Tier 1 Supplier, we engineer products to meet the rigorous safety and aesthetic standards of the automobile industry.  The Elkin, NC facility is currently looking for an Automation Engineer to join their team.
The Automation Engineer II is responsible for providing technological and engineering support for the plant's equipment, production processes and products to ensure reliability and optimum use of resources. The successful candidate will also provide continuous improvements in the areas of safety, quality and value. Success will be measured against speed and yield variances to budget for the plant products, both tempered and laminated, as well as against the achievement of plant quality and safety goals.
Principal Accountabilities include:
  • Develops project plans related to engineering assignments and assists in developing short and medium range plans that drive toward 4 sigma capability.
  • Provides information for Project Expense requests and Capital Projects related to plant and process engineering (including basic technical information, vendor contract, review of technical data, and performance of technical study projects).
  • Assists in decision-making for expensed and capital project improvements.
  • Utilizes effective cost controls and sound engineering judgment in the timely planning and implementation of projects and other work assignments.
  • Utilizes our lean six sigma philosophy to drive process improvement and reduction in variability for the areas they are responsible.
  • Develops process knowledge for the areas they are responsible.
  • Provides process improvements that positively impact budgets.

Job Requirements

You  must have:
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical / Electronics Engineering
  • 5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience, working with automated manufacturing processes
  • Extensive experience programming and troubleshooting with Rockwell/Allen Bradly PLC's and RSLogix5000

We prefer:

  • Experience with FactoryTalk software and applications
  • Experience specifically in an automotive manufacturing corporation
Knowledge, skills and abilities:
The selected candidate must have a working knowledge of manufacturing processes and products, mechanical and electrical engineering standards and automotive product development standards
