Vitro has an immediate opening for an Electrical/Automation Engineer. The position will be located at our fabricating plant in Crestline, OH and is responsible for providing technological and electrical engineering support for a highly technical and automated automotive glass fabrication facility.  The successful candidate will have exposure with and responsibility for process equipment, upgrades, new equipment installations, and other technological enhancements supporting the facility and manufacturing processes.  Typical equipment supported would include unique process equipment, robotics, programmable logic controllers, vision systems and process computers.  This position is a key member of the Engineer and Maintenance Department working closely with a team of Technicians, Engineers and Mechanics to design, implement, maintain and improve our state-of-the-art processes and serve our customers.

Performance is measured against speed and yield variances to budget for both tempered and laminated products as well as against the achievement of plant quality and safety goals.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • The Process Engineer develops project plans related to engineering assignments and assists in developing short and medium range plans
  • Provides information for Project Expense requests and ACT’s related to plant and process engineering (including basic technical information, vendor contract, review of technical data and performance of technical study projects) to assist in decision-making for expensed and capital project improvements
  • Utilizes effective cost controls and sound engineering judgment in the timely planning and implementation of projects and other work assignments to contribute to plant productivity and profitability goals and objectives

Job Requirements

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (EE), BSEE or BSEET.
  • Previous related production/process experience is preferred.
  • Demonstrated strong technical knowledge to program controls, preferably Modicom controls.
  • Experience using Six Sigma to improve processes preferred.
  • Knowledge of glass cutting, edging and bending for the automotive industry would be beneficial.

  • Ability to trouble-shoot, analyze and resolve mechanical problems, plan, organize and share information
