Job Description


The reliability engineer is to identify and manage asset reliability risks that could adversely affect plant or business operations. He/she selects engineering techniques to solve problems and makes recommendations incl. the coordination of projects for process improvements.

As needed, the reliability engineer will direct and coordinate a variety of installation, repair, and maintenance tasks performed by supervising hourly Mechanics so that the production departments can function properly and reliable, and achieve their quality and quantity goals. Establish and maintain reliable equipment using predictive and preventative maintenance tools, preserve plant assets, and continuously seeks methods for reducing maintenance cost while insuring high equipment availability and reliability in a safe working environment.

Identify best practices and improvement opportunities with E&M team and coordinate the implementation of this within day to day activities or assigned projects.

  • Coordinates repair & maintenance day to day activities and supports the maintenance team to identify risks related to equipment reliability, develop short term and long term controls and treatment options to reduce the risks for unplanned failure and higher costs.
  • Drives continuous improvement of reliability of key plant equipment measured in terms of unplanned failures, costs of maintenance and mean time to failure.
  • Repair & Maintenance and Asset Management - Act as technical lead within own area of expertise and coordinate day to day repair & maintenance activities. Ensure reliability and maintainability of equipment/installations and spare parts incl. the replacement of key equipment/spares. These goals are measured according to defined KPIs (such as downtimes, production losses, cost).

  • Initiates all root cause failure analysis for any breakdown resulting in lost production, which can include PPSR, 6 sigma. This includes analysis of predictive maintenance data like oil analysis and applying statistical techniques to interpret the results.
  • Analyzes predictive and preventive maintenance data and using this data determine the replacement or repair schedule with the intention of reducing maintenance costs for key operating equipment while maintaining the operational availability goals.
  • Develops engineering solutions to repetitive failures and all other problems that adversely affect plant operations.
  • Provides training for production/maintenance employees in the proper execution of procedures and instructions which are documented in AMS.
  • Develops communication boards to be used in Production and R&M meetings as well as the machines in the fields.
  • Provide performance statistics of the technical department.
  • Take care of an open and effective communication and create a process-oriented environment of sharing best practices and continuous improvement, which is the Almatis style of (Lean) Management.

Job Requirements

Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Mechanical Engineering or a related field in an industrial environment, from four-year college or university desired. Advanced degree in this or related field is highly desirable. Exposure to project engineering, plant maintenance. At least 3 years focused on reliability

Work experience :

3-5 years of applicable experience (minimum) in production, engineering and/or maintenance preferably in manufacturing companies in similar industries
