The EH&S Specialist reports to the Director, EHS and is based at the Crestline, OH manufacturing location. The successful candidate is responsible for the following:

  1. Assisting the Crestline, OH Manager, EHS in the development and/or implementation of environmental, health and safety (EHS) requirements. [50%]
  2. Assisting the Vitro Automotive (PGW) Director, EHS in the development and/or implementation of environmental, health and safety (EHS) requirements PGW-wide. [25%]
  3. Assists other Vitro Automotive (PGW) manufacturing locations develop and implement EHS programs and processes by providing on-site assistance and support. [25%]

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Complete assigned projects for the development and implementation of, or review and revision of, environmental, health and safety (EHS) programs and requirements designed for the prevention of employee injury/illness and damage to facilities and equipment.
  • Coordinate development and distribution of monthly EHS Training Programs used at PGW manufacturing locations.
  • Provide on-site assistance and support at select Vitro Automotive (PGW) manufacturing locations with the development and implementation of regulatory and Automotive (PGW) required EHS programs and processes.
  • Assist with EHS process mapping and the identification and implementation of improvement opportunities designed to eliminate waste and reduce cost.
  • Analyze and interpret Automotive (PGW) injury/illness and accident data to help identify causes, trends, and determine creative solutions to reduce frequency and severity.
  • Assist select locations obtain, maintain and ensure compliance with County, State and Federal environmental related approvals, permits, plans, registrations and routine or periodic reporting related to air, Emergency Planning Community Right to Know Act (EPCRA), waste, water, etc. as well as help coordinate the development, implementation and maintenance of environmental management systems necessary to ensure 3rd party certification to the ISO 14001-2015 Environmental Management System Standard.

Job Requirements

 Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Environmental, Health and/or Safety Management 
  • Previous EHS job or internship experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret injury, illness and accident data to help identify causes, trends, and determine creative solutions to reduce frequency and severity

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Must be a team player who has a strong work ethic, can work well under pressure, demonstrates strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills and who understands the importance of effective time management and meeting deadlines
  • Must also possess strong communication skills (both written and verbal) due to frequent interactions with all levels of plant and corporate personnel, suppliers, contractors and other persons involved in health, safety, and environmental responsibilities

  • Must possess good listening skills, be self-motivated, and be able to work either independently or as part of a problem-solving team.   

 

*The work environment is an industrial setting in a manufacturing plant and requires travelling approximately 25% of the time.
