A successful candidate must possess a high level of drive and professionalism, the desire to be involved in all operations, have proven analytic and operational experience.  It is desirable for the incumbent to have a business/logistics degree and 5 years related experience.  Distribution knowledge, (incoming/outgoing, packaging, order processing) is necessary to function in this position.  Incumbent must exercise sound and ethical judgment at all times.   Incumbent must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.  Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills are also required.

This is a fast passed position and candidates must be self-motived.  The incumbent will face daily situations involving customer service issues involving transportation. 

Loads must be tracked to ensure on time pickup and delivery.  Often time’s customers are missing product that was shipped and must be located. 

The incumbent will be involved with special projects, which may include part transfers and quoting lanes for competitive rates. 

This position supports supply chain by coordinating FTL, LTL, and parcel shipments across the Vitro network.  These responsibilities include shipment creation, carrier booking, appointment scheduling, invoice auditing, inventory strategy, and contract negotiation.  The position is also accountable for analysis and reporting on daily operations, network optimization, as well as all logistics related freight charges, and other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Business or Supply Chain/Logistics and 5 years min experience required.
  • Create and tender shipments to network of carriers using a transportation management system (TMS) to optimize cost.  Manually tender load(s) that have not been booked through the waterfall carrier selection by calling carriers, emailing carriers, and utilizing the spot bid tool within the TMS.
  • Monitor daily shipments to ensure on time pickup and delivery.  Proactively follow up with shippers and carriers to ensure all issues are handled appropriately.
  • Analyze carrier routing guide and carrier capacity utilization to adjust system parameters to obtain maximum cost savings and service levels.
  • Helps lead annual network wide RFQ through rate evaluation and selection of service providers through strategic sourcing.
  • Arranges for expedited shipments when necessary.
  • Collects data, performs statistical analysis, and aids in weekly/monthly reporting, which include expedite tracking, weekly spend vs budget, lead-time adherence, cost per ton mile, and various ad-hoc studies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.   The ability to work virtually with remote team members is critical for success.
  • Works with other team members to develop holistic freight solutions while maintaining high service levels and minimizing costs.
