This position is responsible for providing leadership for all maintenance, and assigned engineering resources to ensure all plant equipment and facilities are kept in good working order.  This includes interaction and planning with Value Stream leadership and engineering, Production Scheduling, and outside contractors in order to perform effective preventative maintenance, schedule repairs and minimize operations disruptions.  The budgeting of the maintenance labor and expenses is essential as well as coordinating special projects during production down time. The Maintenance and Engineering Manager is also a key driver of providing a safe work environment, promoting strong employee relations and working toward continuous improvement in all areas of responsibility.

1. Coordinates the direction and daily activities of maintenance staff on all shifts and ensures the Maintenance Supervisors, technical staff and GMMS are centered on equipment up time. Rapid response to equipment failure or malfunction is critical to this objective so the Value Streams can focus on meeting customer’s quality and delivery expectations. 
2. The incumbent must maintain technical knowledge and develop subordinates to assure ongoing ability to service ever changing and a more complex array of equipment. Innovative methods of actual repair and managing resources for efficient prioritization and completion of assignments is a must.  All members of the department must communicate and create a positive working environment with other plant departments recognizing the responsibility to function as a service organizations.  Suggestions and recommendations for equipment design and installation are also part of the job.
3. The Maintenance/Engineering Manager is responsible for managing an effective Total Productive Maintenance program throughout the facility in order to improve the facility’s capacity utilization and productivity.
4. The incumbent is responsible for providing a safe and healthful work environment by ensuring proper safety training, regular safety communications and meetings with area associates, and compliance to EHS requirements. The incumbent also investigates unsafe conditions and behaviors and must be proactive to resolve issues and implement corrective measures not only with the Maintenance staff but throughout the facility.
