Pittsburgh Glass Works (a Vitro Company), the #1 manufacturer and distributor of automotive glass in North America has an immediate opening for a Maintenance & Engineering Manager. This position will be located at our fabricating plant in Evansville, IN.

This position is responsible for providing leadership for all maintenance, and assigned engineering resources to ensure all plant equipment and facilities are kept in good working order.  This includes interaction and planning with Value Stream leadership and engineering, Production Scheduling, and outside contractors in order to perform effective preventative maintenance, schedule repairs and minimize operations disruptions.  The budgeting of the maintenance labor and expenses is essential as well as coordinating special projects during production down time. The Maintenance and Engineering Manager is also a key driver of providing a safe work environment, promoting strong employee relations and working toward continuous improvement in all areas of responsibility.

Principal Accountabilities include:

  1. Coordinate daily activities for maintenance and engineering resources
  2. Work with Value Streams to plan maintenance and engineering activities
  3. Monitor and direct the execution of capital projects
  4. Monitor the budget to ensure maintenance and engineering activities are under budget
  5. Attend web meetings with corporate engineering and executive management for capital project gate reviews and for reporting status of capital project progress
  6. Ensure safety related action items are executed with top priority
  7. Ensure proper training for ongoing learning of technical staff
  8. Ensure response to daily unplanned downtime is swift and executed with a sense of urgency
  9. Drive department actions to meet all safety, quality, cost, and delivery KPI’s

Job Requirements

  • This position requires extensive technical equipment knowledge, a minimum of 5 years of past maintenance experience, and knowledge and understanding of plant policies and procedures. 
  • Bachelor's Degree is required, Engineering preferred
  • Must possess good administrative, interpersonal and communication skills and possess the ability to think strategically, assess priorities and act decisively on complex problems.
