The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for planning, directing and managing the plant's maintenance function, including the appropriate scheduling, supervision of maintenance labor and recordkeeping responsibilities to eliminate downtime and protect plant assets

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Direct and coordinate the repair and service activities of the maintenance mechanics and laborers to effectively reduce downtime and maintain facilities and equipment.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of maintenance programs and recommend improvements to ensure safe, efficient and economical.
  • Utilize problem solving-skills to manage breakdowns and emergency repairs and develop/implement preventative maintenance, projects and weekend work to best avoid work week shut-down of equipment, thereby maximizing efficiency/productivity.
  • Maintain sufficient level of material/parts inventory and order parts for repairs and preventative maintenance activities to manage maintenance expenses in the most cost-effective.
  • Coach and develop maintenance staff through technical training and experiences to assure a qualified staff to handle most equipment and facilities issues.
  • Maintain safe facilities and equipment and actively participate in the plant safety program by enforcing safety policies and proper housekeeping responsibilities and by recommending and managing maintenance-related projects for safer administrative controls in machine guarding, lockout/tagout,confined space, hot-work, hearing conservation, hazard communication, fall protection, fire protection and emergency preparedness, plant security and ergonomic activities to support plant and corporate safety goals.

Job Requirements

Basic Qualifications:

  • Technical degree or equivalent work experience equal to five or more years of supervisory experience in general or industrial maintenance, with a thorough understanding of production equipment and processes, as well as facilities maintenance.
  • An understanding of glass fabricating technology is preferred.
  • Experience with Preventative Maintenance (PM) software is beneficial.
  • Must have computer skills including Microsoft EXCEL, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.

 Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Good communication skills (both verbal and written) and interpersonal skills for regular/ongoing interactions with employees at all levels of the Company including maintenance staff, plant associates and management personnel, as well as vendors and contractors.
  • Team-building skills are essential to coach and develop staff to get the most out of available resources. 
  • Must have strong technical skills and the ability to negotiate and analyze complex equipment issues and serve as a technical advisor to management.
  • This requires strong problem-solving and decision-making skills to best prioritize day-to-day maintenance activities between long-term goals and short-term needs and emergency situations.
