Vitro Architectural Glass has an immediate opening for a Materials Engineer. This role will be responsible for increasing warehouse efficiencies, reducing surplus stock of packaging materials, identifying opportunities of packaging requirements, and improving warehouse processes that reduce waste.
Responsibilities of the positions include and are not limited to:
- Develop, improve, and sustain effective warehouse processes and standards
- Develop and maintain warehouse layouts prints
- Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs) warehouse performance
- Purchase and maintain packaging material
- Develop and lead warehouse kaizen
- Develop and maintain packaging Kanban systems
- Drive warehousing & packaging lean concepts
- Develop and implement methods and procedures for nonconforming material
- Conduct root-cause analysis and develop/track corrective actions
- Implement and develop a capacity standard of production focused on efficiencies and quality
- Monthly reporting of packaging material KPI forecasting and consumption
- Perform other duties as requested by The Warehouse/Supply Chain Manger.
Job Requirements
The incumbent must have a two-year Engineering or Supply Chain degree. A Bachelor Degree is preferred. Requires experience with AUTOCAD or relative application. The incumbent must have general knowledge of glass fabrication processes and lean manufacturing techniques, or the ability to quickly learn these processes. S/he must be able to build strong relationships with other departments/functions as well as with those s/he supervises to maintain focus on meeting the objectives of the company in the most cost-effective manner.
The incumbent must demonstrate the following abilities:
- Has an aptitude for detail and accuracy and be alert to compensate for deviations.
- Warehousing and production experience
- Ability to articulate and communicate data that drives results
- Experienced in Inventory management systems, Ariba, and SAP
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Ability to initiate standards and methods of inspection, testing and evaluations
