Job Description


The Payroll Specialist processes weekly and semi-monthly payrolls and payroll reports for multiple locations to meet company payroll schedules and ensure employees are paid accurately and on time.  This position also ensures compliance with Federal, State and local withholdings requirements as well as employee deduction and deposit requests.


This role must provide support and serve as a point of contact between ADP and location HR representatives, working independently and as part of a team to research and resolve payroll data issues and technical problems in processing the payrolls throughout the company.  S/he will work closely with the HRIS Analyst, Benefit Analyst and Talent Acquisition Specialist to coordinate and optimize efficiency and accuracy.  S/he must have a strong understanding of Payroll product (ADP & E-Time), Federal, State and local regulations concerning wage and hour laws and tax laws as well as a basic understanding of employee health benefits.


The incumbent must possess strong PC skills including EXCEL, payroll software, and internet navigation and research skills, along with the ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet deadlines.   S/he must maintain a high sense of integrity to deal with sensitive and confidential information.  


The incumbent must be highly accurate and attentive to detail;  s/he must have strong interpersonal and communication skills to work in a team environment and provide excellent service to diverse groups from corporate personnel to operations.


The incumbent must have a College degree in business,  payroll certification or equivalent payroll experience equal to a minimum of 3 years direct hands-on payroll experience with ADP/E-Time interfaces and payroll processing.    Accounting/bookkeeping experience is very beneficial.

  1. Oversee and process multiple-site payrolls on a weekly and semi-monthly basis, interacting with facility HR personnel by phone and email to resolve discrepancies to meet company payroll schedules.
  2. Process accurate E-Time files from the timekeeping system and quickly respond to E-Time issues to ensure accurate payroll data is transmitted from the remote locations.
  3. Reconcile payroll prior to transmission and validate final reports to ensure accuracy of employee earnings.
  4. Process correct garnishment calculations to ensure compliance with court orders and employee withholding requests.
  5. Process manual checks, voids, stop-payments within ADP banking to resolve pay discrepancies.
  6. Review quarterly and year-end reports for accuracy from 3rd party carrier ADP, researching and resolving inaccuracies to ensure reported employee wages and withholdings are accurate and company tax obligations are met.
  7. Processes A/P checks to Union Treasurers and Credit Unions to comply with pay deduction requirements.
  8. Perform compliance of unclaimed property payroll checks to reconcile payroll entries.

Job Requirements

  • 3+ years payroll experience in a complex high volume enterprise payroll processing function
  • Bachelors degree
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP)
  • Strong preference for ADP EV5 experience
