Job Description


This position is responsible for managing the production schedules for the manufacture of automotive glass transparencies; creates master schedule to establish sequence and lead time of each operation to meet shipping dates according to sales forecasts or customer orders 

  1. Managing the scheduling for production and preparing production schedules for manufacturing of industrial production in a glass manufacturing environment; forecasts and orders direct materials
  2. Determines the status of assigned projects, expedites operations that delay schedules, and supervises the altering of schedules to meet unforeseen conditions
  3. Expedites and aids in the physical movement of parts throughout the manufacturing process, acting as a liaison between all areas of the business to keep parts moving toward completion
  4. Analyzes and interprets construction of bills of material, scopes, specifications, , to determine the content and plan manageable work elements
  5. Manages the planning and scheduling of workflow for each department and operation according to previously established manufacturing sequences and lead times ; monitors capacity in responsible areas to ensure adequate staffing and overtime are maintained
  6.  Resolves problems utilizing acquired knowledge and analytical abilities.
  7. Creates and reviews work orders and purchase orders, as needed
  8. Prepares production reports; develops documented procedures and business process workflows

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, Management Science, Logistics, or Business Administration or related fields preferred
  • Three-five (3-5) years of previous production planning management experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • APICS, CPIM, or CSCP certification would be a plus; other incumbents would be required to complete CPIM certification within an established timeframe
  • Proficient in MS Office applications to include Word, Excel, Visio, and Access programs
  • ERP experience, particularly Oracle, preferred
  • Strong time-management skills along with the ability to be self-motivated
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast paced environment and handle multiple projects and details simultaneously
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to work cooperatively with staff inside and outside of the department
  • Prior supervisory experience preferred, but not necessary
