Vitro has a full-time opening for an experienced Industrial Power Systems Engineer. The Vitro architectural glass production facilities depend on a reliable power delivery system for 24/7/365 multiyear uninterrupted operation. The candidate will work out of the central engineering group in Pittsburgh and provide analysis, design, project management of medium and low voltage systems for Vitro North American facilities.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Evaluating existing Vitro power systems facilities and creating a multi-year plan for obsolete equipment upgrades.
  • Oversee the design of and incorporation of the additional power equipment into the facility when new processes are added.
  • Ensure the power systems are maintained and upgraded to provide the highest level of reliability and safety.
  • Evaluate and upgrade standby backup power systems to ensure uninterrupted power delivery to the float glass processes.
  • Work closely with the power engineers at each facility to implement system upgrades, analyze failures and create corrective action plans.
  • Manage contract engineering resources as required.
  • Create equipment specifications and installation bid specifications.
  • Create and manage project schedules and resources, including developing the logistics for installing upgrades without interruption to the existing processes.
  • Travel to vendor and Vitro facilities to review equipment and oversee construction activities. Travel may be 25 – 30% per year and may involve multi-week trips.
  • Evaluate energy usage and energy savings or recovery strategies and projects, working with vendors and agencies to find creative ways to finance and implement energy savings projects.

Job Requirements


  • BS degree in Electrical Engineering
  • At least 5 years of experience working with the design and analysis of industrial power systems.
  • Experience with electrical power protection systems, control systems and arc flash analysis.
  • Project management experience.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
