Our coating facility operation in Salem, Oregon seeks an experienced and innovative Process Control Engineer with an Electrical background. The successful candidate will provide engineering support throughout the facility and find ways to maximize productivity and yields without compromising safety.   He/she determines the most efficient manufacturing methods that will produce a quality product.  Supervises the installation of new production equipment.  Interacts with vendors and corporate engineering to aid in start-up of new equipment.

The incumbent keeps current on all process control developments throughout the flat glass business unit by communicating with corporate research and development, and by interacting with peers at other facilities.   Maintains a constant awareness of plant status in complying with regulatory agencies requirements, and supports departmental, plant and corporate policies and goals with regard to achieving the highest levels of safety, housekeeping and environmental standards.

Job Requirements

  • Preferred a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited college. Will consider applicable experience in lieu of a degree.
  • 2-5 years' experience in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
  • Demonstrated computer application skills, including programmable logic control (PLC’s), HMI’s and VFD’s.
  • Have a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Candidate must demonstrate the ability to take a hands-on approach to their work.
  • Ability to analyze data and make recommendations based on findings.
  • Ability to work with a diverse workforce, including personnel, contractors and corporate staff.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Organized and can prioritize based on the current facility needs.
  • Manage capital projects and improvements from conception to implementation, including competitive bidding, funding requests, material purchasing, project scheduling, installation, preventative maintenance, and documentation creation.
  • Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills required.
  • Ability to work in a 24/7/365 environment and flexibility to work off-hours to accommodate scheduled changes


Preferred Requirements

  • Previous glass manufacturing experience
  • Knowledge of Delta V, iFix or other Distributed Controls system programs
  • Knowledge of lean principles
