Job Description


The Project Engineer provides technical and engineering support to both PGW and Tier 2 value added assembly locations that will ensure reliability and the optimum safe use of the facilities, equipment, and resources to meet customer requirements and plant objectives. The incumbent will be responsible for assigned projects and support the various areas of the plant's facilities. As such, the incumbent ensures appropriate facilities and equipment are available and ready to use for product fabrication. These requirements are based on customer specifications and blueprints and are achieved by working with both customer and vendor representatives. The incumbent will design and implement production process modifications and engineering projects to increase plant safety, quality, efficiency, reduce variable costs, and will also provide technological guidance and assistance in equipment operation and maintenance. He/she will also develop project plans related to engineering assignments and assist in developing short and medium range plans and provide information for the preparation of both expense and capital requests related to plant and project engineering needs.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Successful launch and ramp-up of all value add programs meeting timing and financial targets.
  • Value added process equipment that successfully passes an OEM customer run at rate to customer blueprint specifications.
  • Complete PFMEAs, Control Plans and Process Flow Diagrams for all value add processes that address all potential quality issues and include a risk reduction plan.
  • Coordinate Operator training with Site HR prior to launch
  • Develop SOP’s for Operators to use
  • Accurate and timely cost estimates as needed.
  • Develop Equipment standards for VA equipment across the business
  • Develop Maintenance routines for Installed equipment

Additionally, the incumbent will manage equipment vendors so that key timing and budget milestones are met over the course of a capital project. Interface directly with Program Management, Product Engineering, Process Engineering and OEM customers to ensure that equipment is designed to meet all operations and customer specifications.  Provide technical support on value added customer spills to minimize the negative effects on the customer. Provide cost estimates for future value add programs.

Job Requirements

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering 
  • 5+ years of demonstrated engineering experience in a manufacturing or fabricating environment  

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the automotive industry strongly preferred
  • Experience in the automotive glass value add industry strongly preferred
  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) for interactions with management, peers, other associates, vendors and contractors
  • Ability to trouble-shoot, analyze and resolve problems, plan, organize and share information
  • Ability to work independently and manage projects to established timelines as performance is measured against project goals and specific assignments
  • Spanish fluency
