Job Description


This person is responsible for providing value to the Vitro organization by contributing leadership, planning, technical knowledge, and communication skills to ensure compliance of Vitro’s Architectural Glass Products with Customer requirements and Vitro internal specifications.  This person will drive continuous improvement, corrective and preventative actions, and ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System in response to Customer Quality complaints.  Focus will be on value added MSVD products.  This person will also manage the Field Service aspects of this job and coordinate with other Vitro resources as needed to bring problem definition, internal & external communication, and resolution of quality related issues working closely with the Manufacturing Quality Control Mgrs.  This person will support the efforts of Technical Service to provide excellent technical support to Customers and internal SAM’s, NAM’s, Architectural Services, and other Vitro personnel.

Primary Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Set daily priorities for QC Techs, including check frequency, sample collection, in-bound inspection, customer visits, and project work.
  • Review incoming request for credits analyze and pareto.
  • Interface with customer and analyze customer complaints.
  • Initiate, facilitate, and perform corrective actions and problem solving.
  • Interface with production and engineering to solve quality issues.
  • Analyzes data for quality trends.
  • Improve quality with continuous improvement.
  • Implement and improve ISO procedures as necessary.
  • Justifies and purchases necessary lab equipment
  • Inform and update management of quality status.
  • Act as technical liaison between operations and QC Techs.
  • Responsible for training and development of QC Techs.
  • Responsible for Continuous Improvement in Quality
  • Support, promote, and adhere to all Vitro rules and policies
  • Facilitate and drive smooth transition at points of information exchange.
  • Assists Quality Manager with any special projects as assigned.
  • Mentor Plant QC Technicians.

Job Requirements

        Education and Requirements: 

  • Bachelor Degree in a related discipline Required
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications
  • Experience with ISO/IATF 16949 preferred
  • Demonstrated familiarity with quality and production processes in a glass manufacturing operation preferred.

  • Self-directed, with the ability to work independently with a high level of motivation.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and deadline driven environment.
  • Detail orientated.
  • The ability to prioritize, manage time well, multitask, and troubleshoot are critical to success.
