Job Description


  • Lead Vitro Automotive USA quality and field service team
  • Drive Mind Set change in the organization towards Quality at the Source strategy
  • Define and implement a robust succession plan for the key roles in the quality organization
  • Document and communicate Vitro Quality vision
  • Document and implement a process with a standard cadence and critical KPI’s (output metrics) to support Vitro´s Quality vision and the primary performance KPI’s for Vitro. 
  • Work with manufacturing and commercial teams to establish annual quality performance goals for each location that align with the critical KPI’s for the company and the long term quality vision.  Establish quality KPI’s for all functional groups including Purchasing, finance, and supply chain, among others.  Ensure all associates have some form of quality metrics in their performance and learning plans. 
  • Build and execute a product quality strategy/approach and standards spanning the product lifecycle
  • Drive customer intimacy with respect to quality. 
    • At the personal level establish relationships with key customer quality and launch executives.
    • Establish similar intimacy with the broader functional teams at the appropriate levels within the customer organization.
    • Establish the global field service team as the primary point of contact for day to day issues.
  • Establish process to benchmark Vitro quality performance versus global competition
  • Train commercial and manufacturing teams with regard to quality processes and customer system. Set expectations for basic quality training for Vitro associates.
  • Communicate quality trends and distribute scorecards for performance at key customers
  • Ensure all facilities meet or exceed customer audit standards (ISO/TS/VDA…).  Train site teams and define proactive audits to ensure compliance and gain internal benefit to PGW as a result of the audits. 
  • Define and implement innovative approaches to improve quality through the introduction of new technologies, systems, methods and controls
  • Maintain full accountability for quality performance related to the Global ARG and OEM business segments.  
  •  “Champion” to ensure the organization is tuned into the “Voice of Customer”
  • Work in partnership with all Business functional heads to drive the Business towards operational excellence
  • Manage customer warranty claims and corrective action processes
  • Ensure compliance of safety regulations and customer specific requirements for each part number in accordance with product specifications and drawings
  • Ensure product safe launch following customer specific requirements to set it up
  • Lead a Layer Audit procedure among all manufacturing facilities
  • Form an effective business relationship with key customer representatives
  • Be the liaison between customer quality engineers and managers; and Vitro quality managers to ensure customer requirements are fully understood and met.
  • Lead customer mandated quality initiatives such as quality recovery plans, black belt projects, improvement plans, etc.
  • Direct the Field Service Manager to ensure information and parts needed for quality evaluations are received by the plant quality managers.
  • Approve direct report expense reports and contractor for IMDS approvals.
  • Conduct monthly QMS reviews with each plant
  • Conduct weekly Quality Metric and Chargeback reviews with each plant
  • Complete, or delegate for completion, charts, graphs, and presentations as directed by the Vice-President of Quality.
  • Prepare presentations and communicate Vitro quality information in customer Business Unit Reviews and similar customer meetings.
  • Coach plant quality managers on the development of customer acceptable corrective actions.
  • Participate in the interviewing and hiring of quality personnel.
  • Evaluate and implement standard quality systems to continually improve the quality of Vitro product and services.
  • Engage in customer negotiations to reduce or eliminate the impact of corrective actions, customer sorts, etc.
  • Be a resource for assisting or leading efforts regarding difficult quality and process issues.
  • Ensure plant quality managers are providing acceptable documentation to the Plant Launch Managers for APQP activities such as PPAP and Sample parts.
  • Sign-off on the Safe Launch Plan acceptability for new and/or transferred parts
  • Assist with the coordination of part testing when needed for root cause investigations.

Job Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Quality, Engineering or other is required coupled with 10+ years of Quality experience in a manufacturing environment.  5+ years of experience in effectively managing and leading teams. A master’s degree is desirable.
