The incumbent must have a Bachelor's degree in engineering or another technical discipline. Lean Six Sigma belt and/or CQE certifications are preferred. The incumbent must have technical production knowledge and, as such, must have an engineering background and education, as well as substantial training and competency in quality management techniques.
The incumbent must be proficient in the application of statistical process control techniques, FMEA, Control Planning and Advance Product Quality Planning (APQP), Gauge Repeatability & Reproducibility (GR&R), Process Capability Analysis, and Continuous Improvement methods; knowledgeable in project management and problem-solving skills; proficient in the use of computer systems and software. Preferred Strong knowledge of statistical quality computer applications, metrology, and manufacturing and quality control standards.
The incumbent must be proficient at an intermediate to advanced level in personal computers and Microsoft Office applications of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
- Serve in the Quality Manager’s stead during his/ her absence from the Plant.
- Support the Quality Manger to ensure and promote awareness of customer requirements, critical to quality (CTQ), and process capability throughout the organization.
- Serve as back-up of Quality Manager for customer visits and project work.
- Manage CTQ product requirements and control plans, at production areas.
- Work to improve organization's efficiency and profitability by reducing waste and process variation.
- Assist Quality Control Leader on setting daily priorities (process maps) for QC Techs, including check frequency, sample collection, in-bound inspection.
- Ensure the quality standards of the organization are followed (adherence to standards).
Process Responsibilities:
- Collect and maintain quality records; all quality test results with summaries provided to Quality and Plant Management.
- Sustain and update quality documentation, SOP, Process Maps and Control Maps.
- Execute FMEA and Process Capability Studies.
- Perform risk analyses; facilitate and train process owner groups to immediately respond with corrective action due to defective product, process, and service.
- Report to Quality and Plant Management on goals performance (e.g., Quality Management System: results of quality audits, corrective actions, cost of poor quality), including the need for improvement.
- Assess production records at different stages of offline production (MSVD, Tempering, and IG).
- Take part actively in the continuous improvement activities by supporting other process areas with data collection and analysis.
- Responsible for QC lab instruments including gage studies and calibrations
- Responsible for records of critical to quality instruments that are applicable for the production process (not in the QC lab area)
- Monitor and adapt frequency of testing procedures to improve effectiveness and efficiency of resources (increase/reduce frequency of test based upon process capability and stability).
- Responsible for maintenance of QC lab (resources/suppliers/maintenance of equipment)
- Responsible for QC lab area housekeeping and 5S and software to support the inspection team.
- Review incoming requests for credits, analyze and Pareto.
- Regularly monitor customer feedback, emails, customer service assistance, and customer credit request to ensure customer satisfaction with products and services.
- Monitor and provide immediate initial response for corrective action due to defective product or service.
- Responsible for analyzing samples from customer complaints.
- Responsible to collect evidence for approving/rejecting customer complaints.
- Interface with customers and analyze customer complaints. (interface for collecting support data)
- Initiate, facilitate, and perform problem solving and determine appropriate corrective actions in concert with process owners, contributors and engineering resources using 8D or another appropriate and approved format.
- Interface with production and engineering to solve internal quality issues.
Continuous Improvement and Customer Responsibilities:
- Collect statistical data from production lines and customer charge backs to identify quality problems.
- Identify and report outliers of key input variables: production variables that affect product quality and service.
- Analyze data for quality trends.
- Improve quality by application of breakthrough improvement methods.
- Conduct process risk analyses and or update FMEA-Control plan-Process maps every year.
- Continuously improve work quality by formulating and updating guidelines and procedures.
- Support Quality development and improvement plans
- Implement and improve ISO procedures as necessary.
