Job Description


The quality assurance supervisor plans and directs activities concerned with development, application, and maintenance of quality standards for industrial processes, materials and products.

Primary role and responsibilities include:

  • Develops and initiates standards and methods for inspection, testing, and evaluation.
  • Assists the quality engineer in developing and maintaining the ISO9001 procedures and work instructions.
  • Establishes program to evaluate precision and accuracy of production equipment and testing, measurement, and analytical equipment and facilities.
  • Develops and implements methods and procedures for disposition of discrepant material and devises methods to assess cost and responsibility. Maintain the Material Review Area to ensure that all products are distributed in a timely manner.
  • Directs workers engaged in measuring and testing product and tabulating data concerning materials, product, or process quality and reliability.
  • Assist the Quality manager in maintaining the Gage room and the distribution of all measuring equipment as well as calibration requirements.
  • Suggests and implements changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase safety and efficiency of shop, department, or work crew.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems.
  • Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
  • Maintains time and production records.
  • Confers with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments.
  • Interfaces with other Departments and the internal Trainer to develop and implement training programs as required.
  • Confers with workers' representatives and Human Resources to resolve grievances.

Job Requirements


This position is responsible for evaluating product and process quality in order to ensure that the requirements of the quality system are being followed and to seek areas for improvement, quality planning, training QC Technicians, and for the support of the department and plant goals.  The position provides supervisory leadership, guidance and direction on a daily basis to assigned QC personnel to ensure that company goals are met in terms of safety, quality, productivity and cost. S/he must lead by example in following and enforcing company policies and procedures.


This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of one to two years of supervisory or lead experience in manufacturing with a general knowledge of glass fabrication processes.  Bachelor's Degree is preferred.  Quality Control experience is preferred.  Problem-solving, conflict resolution, and listening skills are essential. The incumbent must demonstrate the ability to utilize modern management concepts and exhibit good communication skills (both verbal and written) and interpersonal skills for ongoing interactions with employees supervised by this position, as well as other team members, internal and external, and management personnel.  Team-building skills are essential to coach and develop associates and work with team members from other areas/departments/shifts.


Computer skills required for this position include a working knowledge of Microsoft EXCEL, Word and Outlook.
