  • Prior supervisory experience with strong leadership, judgment, interpersonal, communication and problem solving skills.
  • 3 – 5 years Supply Chain background to include Shipping, Receiving, Transportation, Warehousing and Inventory Control highly preferred.
  • Department of Transportation regulations familiarity to include HAZMAT handling.
  • Microsoft Office – Excel, PowerPoint, and Word for document creation, charts and e-mail.
  • Ordering and inventory control systems experience (SAP) and Payroll/Timekeeping systems (ADP eTime).

PURPOSE: Briefly state the job’s overall purpose, emphasizing the general function or duty for which this position is responsible.

Incumbent supervises, plans, and organizes activities relating to the plant’s Shipping, Receiving, Container Setup and Facility Services (grounds maintenance) departments while ensuring a high level of customer service, optimum inventory levels, manufacturing support and warehousing.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Briefly describe the day to day role of this position.

  • Ensures warehouse stocking and shipment of finished products is done in a safe, efficient and cost effective manner and that the finished product inventory is updated and turned correctly. Ensures efficient use of the storage capacities in the warehouse and raw glass storage areas, the scrapping of all obsolete finished product, work-in-progress (WIP), or raw materials and transfer of scrap and trash away from all areas of the plant to allow for efficient use of production space.
  • Plans and coordinates work, trains and motivates and evaluates performance of warehouse and receiving associates; ensures their ability to safely operate material handling equipment to move materials to and from storage configurations; counsels, records and disciplines as necessary. Develops crew leaders/coordinators to effectively oversee the daily routines.
  • Maintains an equipment structure and level to accomplish the warehouse, shipping and receiving mission in a safe, effective manner. Provides appropriate equipment and racking to ensure the safe transport and storage of materials.
  • Monitors the unloading of all materials into the Receiving Department; ensures materials are staged for counting and inspection; ensures receiving reports accurately report material received. Resolves discrepancies with invoices, packing slips, and receiver reports.  Monitors the flow of paperwork from receiving to inventory control.
  • Coordinates activities with trucking services including schedules, deliveries, and equipment.
  • Responsible for the containment, storage, shipment and documentation of hazardous, recyclable and other materials from the plant.
  • Oversees the plant facility services to include such items as snow/lawn care, pest control, fleet maintenance, and ancillary building needs (painting, light construction, and beautification efforts).

 DECISION-MAKING AUTHORITY: Define the limits of authority and decision making, e.g., ability to hire employees, authorizing budget, etc.

  • Ability to hire and train logistics/warehousing personnel.
  • Makes judgment calls relating to customer product shipment requirements.
  • Works with senior level managers (Plant Mgr, QA Mgr, and Value Stream Mgr) to address logistics concerns.
  • Coordinate external third-party warehousing needs

GUIDELINES FOR DECISION MAKING: Describe the rules and guidelines involved in making decisions in the job, ranging from strict routine determined by the job processes to subject to following strategic policy determined by the CEO and/or Board of Directors.

  • Works with senior plant level managers (Plant Mgr, QA Mgr, Supply Chain Manager and Value Stream Mgrs) to address logistical concerns and corrective actions needed to ensure conformance to customer needs and requirements.

 SUPERVISION:

 Number of Direct Reports:   4 to 6 Hourly

 Number of Indirect Reports:  15 to 20 Contract

Job Requirements

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Describe the working environment (e.g., office, plant).

Vitro Automotive operates complex automotive glass production facilities.  This position is primarily located in an office setting on the warehouse floor; however, interaction on the manufacturing floor will be required. Some of the work will require exposure to loud noises or fumes in the plant facility.  Safety equipment is required and provided. 

Describe other working conditions (e.g., consistent overtime, weekend/evening hours, travel, etc.).

The normal work week is based on a continuous operations (24/7) schedule.  Incumbent will work day-shift Monday – Friday (7:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.) and is required to be available for extended hours and off-hours calls to ensure the success of the shipping and receiving activities.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Define the physical requirements (e.g. ability to lift 25 pounds repetitively for an 8 hour shift, ability to stand for an 8 hours shift, etc.).

This position requires the ability to regularly sit, stand, and walk, for up to 12 hours per day.  Lifting requirements are minimal but could be up to 25 lbs. infrequently. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential job functions.
