The Crestline, OH plant produces a wide variety of fabricated products for the automotive market. The Shipping Coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating, and scheduling all product shipments from the production facility.  Incumbent will efficiently convert customer releases into time-phased shipments and related container requirements as part of the Shipping & Receiving Department.  The successful candidate will also assist with inventory, packaging requirements and be responsible for a safe and orderly work environment.

Activities include:

  • Schedules and prepares shipments in a manner that economically balances warehouse workload while meeting all customer service requirements.
  • Prepares all paperwork for the facility’s production and miscellaneous shipments including export papers, air charters, special customer documentation and notifications, non-standard shipment follow-up and special labels as well as all labels and paperwork for UPS shipments.
  • Analyzes and approves the daily shipment releases from customers who use EDI and from customers who use daily shipment faxes; follow-up with customer reps on any changes or inconsistencies that will create extra cost or customer service problems.
  • Schedules Sealand / LCL (less-than-container-load) containers for all European shipments in a manner that eliminates any extra airfreight for regular OEM shipments.
  • Minimizes product obsolescence by coordinating the shipment of all available products from partial, hold or central re-op with available finished stock and communicating discrepancies to local and customer service personnel.
  • Monitors carrier performance and recommends changes to improve customer service or reduce transportation costs.
  • Maintains records and communicates information concerning all shipments, exceptions to planned activity and changes in customer requirements.
  • Inputs and maintains data concerning releases and plant shipment requirements for any product not being produced at the facility.
  • Control and prioritize the sequence of trucks loaded and released at the docks in accordance with arrival times, scheduled window times, and material availability.
  • Ensure the accuracy of shipments and related documentation.
  • Effectively communicate with customers, transportation services personnel, and employees.
  • Responsible for the distribution/filing of all documentation for clerical activities relating to shipping.

General Activities include:

  • Instruct dock drivers on tasks and requirements.
  • Maintain a forktruck license and operate the forktruck safely.
  • Continuous improvement activities to include initiating, recommending, and providing solutions through appropriate channels.
  • Housekeeping and organization of the dock areas.

Job Requirements

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Must have PC skills to work with a computerized system
  • Basic Microsoft Excel skills required
  • SAP/ORACLE/NACSS/STARS familiarity highly preferred (or similar production reporting and ordering systems)
  • Experience in warehousing or transportation preferred but not required.

  • Must be motivated, self-driven, and organized
