Pittsburgh Glass Works (a Vitro Company), the #1 manufacturer and distributor of automotive glass in North America has an immediate opening for a Supply Chain Manager.  Reporting to the Plant Manager, this role will be responsible for the procurement, storage and flow of materials from suppliers, through the manufacturing facility to the customer.

Principal Accountabilities Include:

  • Effectively lead all functions (Receiving, Shipping, Material Planning, Production Planning, Inventory Management, Packaging, and Manufacturing Support) responsible for the procurement, storage and flow of materials through the manufacturing facility to the customer such that:
    • All customer requirements are met
    • All PGW EHS and quality goals are met
    • Financial returns are maximized
  • Provide leadership of both upstream and downstream supply chain activities:
    • Develop and utilize effective supply chain visibility tools
    • Develop effective strategies for managing customer demand variations
    • Develop supplier relationships that support supply chain cycle time reduction
  • Provide leadership for the effective performance and continuous improvement of operations planning functions including:
    • Demand management
    • Capacity utilization forecasting and management
    • Planning and scheduling
    • Raw material forecasting, procurement, receiving and inventory control
    • Finished goods production and inventory control
    • Inventory management
    • Efficient material handling within the plant and warehouse
    • Cost effective finished goods logistics
  • Develop and track appropriate measures of supply chain effectiveness:
    • Inventory accuracy, costs, and turns
    • Safety stock levels and manufacturing disruptions
    • Effective logistics

Job Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in a business related or operations planning discipline
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience as a Supply Chain Manager
  • Extensive knowledge of inventory management practices (APICS certification in CPIM or ability to obtain)
  • Thorough knowledge of manufacturing processes, strong computer systems background as it relates to operations planning and materials management functions, knowledge of lean manufacturing techniques
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communications skills, and the ability to design and implement change
