As a Tier 1 Supplier, we engineer products to meet the rigorous safety and aesthetic standards of the automobile industry.

At our facility in Westland, MI, we are expanding operations and looking for a Supply Chain Supervisor.  This growing facility was opened in 2007 and performs value-add operations as a Tier 1 supplier in the automotive industry.

This position is responsible for maintaining the flow of materials necessary to satisfy both the production needs of the assembly plant and the delivery needs of the customers, for maintaining the manufacturing resources planning system and for directing its continuous enhancement as well as for overseeing production planning. This position requires regular contact with internal/external suppliers, Customers and internal departments including Production, Engineering, Maintenance and Quality Control.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Establish and maintain a strong commitment to quality and continuous improvement driven by customer requirements.
  • Develop and implement systems, processes, and procedures relative to shipping product that ensure consistent achievement of plant reliability and cost objectives.
  • Develop and maintain effective two-way relationships with suppliers and customers both internal and external throughout the supply chain.
  • Ensure that direct reports have the resources necessary to perform their jobs properly and meet customer requirements.  Ensure effective performance of direct reports in support of department and organizational objectives. Ensure proper staffing to provide resources to meet customer shipping requirements.
  • Assure SAP is executed, daily truckload shipments meet customer releases, advanced shipping notices (ASN’s) are issued as required, conformance with all shipping requirements and documentation and first-in-first-out (FIFO) shipping procedures, and notifying the appropriate customer service representative at ATC of any possibility of not being able to meet customer demand. Resolve all shipping issues. Use and maintain proper shipping systems and related files.
  • Actively use customer and supplier interactive sites for information and communication.
  • Responsible for Cycle Count review utilization of inventory storage locations.
  • Ensure a safe and healthful work environment in all areas of responsibility and throughout the facility with particular responsibility related to handling of waste materials.
  • Ensure that the daily production plan meets customer shipping requirements and ensures that materials are available to run production

Job Requirements

Basic Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 5+ years of experience in Supply Chain.  Experience with Supply Chain for the Automotive manufacturing is desirable
  • 2+ years of supervisory experience in areas associated with shipping, logistics and material handling, or strong overall industrial business experience with production planning experience preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Experience with ERP systems, SAP preferred
  • Team building skills are essential to coach and develop associates
  • Verbal and written communication skills
