The basic function of the Tank Process Technologist is to monitor the forming process, controlling the environment within the bath and for operating the lehr to produce a quality annealed ribbon.

The Tank Process Technologist will be assigned to a rotating crew with the chief responsibility of providing technical direction to the crew personnel.  Production data and quality reports will be monitored and analyzed in conjunction with visual inspections and interaction with crew associates to develop corrective actions to maintain process stability and quality standards.  Serious or unusual circumstances will be reported to the Tank Day Staff and Tank Supervisor for directions

Though a direct report to the Tank Supervisor and dotted line accountability to the CTE and GPM.  The Tank Process Technologist works closely with the Tank Day Staff to make sure that process operating instructions are understood and correctly implemented on the crew.  The Tank Process Technologist must be able to communicate and provide technical leadership to the crew, and clearly communicate observations, results, and exceptions as needed to the Tank Day Staff and crew supervision.  The position will also require interaction with the Quality, Wareroom, and Maintenance Departments.

Interpersonal skills are required as the individual will need to work in tandem with his crew associates on a daily basis to communicate process direction from the Engineering Staff, trouble shoot process upsets, direct action plans, and provide process training.  The Tank Process Technologist will work as needed with the Batch Attendant, Process Utilities, TBL Attendant, Process Controllers, Tank Team Leader, and Tank Supervisor.  The incumbent will learn the key aspects of these jobs. 

In addition to monitoring daily operations, the Tank Process Technologist will be assigned process improvements. This position exercises analytical and problem solving skills relative to the process and related equipment to determine those areas of least efficient operation and those most penalizing to quality.  The Tank Process Technologist develops new methods or changes to equipment which leads to general improvement in the operation, safety, and quality.

Job Requirements

The Tank Process Technologist must have a minimum of an Associate Degree or equivalent in a technical field, or diploma equivalent from a trade school.

Shift work and work on weekends are required based on Customer demand, equipment installation and preventative maintenance requirements.  This is a rotating shift job.
