Vitro Architectural Glass is looking for a Technical Services Engineer.  The Technical Services Engineer would have responsibility for supporting Vitro Architectural Glass customers with specific emphasis on Vitro Certified Network (VCN) members.

Job Function – Accountabilities

  • Conduct customer productivity audits and provide product and process training to participants of our Certified Network programs. 
    • Will certify that customers meet all requirements to remain as participants in the Vitro Certified Network. 
    • Failure of customers to correctly use Vitro high performance coated glass products in their manufacturing process could result in significant warranty claims or sales credits against Vitro and damage to our reputation in the industry.
  • Provide technical support and direction to strategic Flat Glass customers including product applications and fabrication guidelines, enhancing Vitro’s reputation as a leader in providing glass and glazing technical solutions. 
  • Provide technical support for Product Stewardship, Sustainability and Environmental regulatory activities such as (but not limited to) Environmental Product Declarations (EPD), SDS (Safety Data Sheet), Conflict Minerals, Cradle to Cradle Certification (C2C) and support LEED initiatives as necessary.
  • Participate, by providing technical support and recommendations, in the development of: new products, services, various website tools, technical documents, product data sheets and glass performance related data provided for our customer’s use.
  • Utilize analytical, engineering, and simulation tools to demonstrate glass performance and meet customer expectations for energy efficiency and aesthetics in the design of new commercial buildings and renovation of existing commercial buildings. 
  • Provide technical support for customer post-mortem analyses of field failures and provide guidance to enhance production methods to reduce risk of future problems.
  • Manage and resolve warranty claims, including job-site visits and coordination of internal and external resources.
  • Represent Vitro’s interests in industry and trade associations and external stakeholder activities, and further promoting to the construction industry the value add of Vitro products.
  • Provide training to other departments related to key technical services activity such as VCN requirements, product stewardship, website tools and other areas as appropriate.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering Discipline, and/or 5-10 years of related experience in glass manufacturing or fabrication processes.
  • 25-50% travel to customer locations and other required destinations
  • Must have a thorough knowledge of glass manufacturing or fabrication process technology and advanced knowledge of the principles of an engineering discipline.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work independently. They must also have an unselfish work ethic, a strong sense of self-accomplishment, and have strong problem solving skills.
  • Customer facing experience from a Sales, Quality or technical representation perspective is preferred.
  • Ability to speak Spanish is a plus.
