Job Requirements

Preferred degrees:

Responsibilities include:

  • Stress Metrology Project: Learn how to use the "substrate curvature technique" to measure intrinsic stress in individual coating layers and/or multilayer coating stacks, prepared under various process conditions and/or within certain ranges of chemical composition/stoichiometry.
  • In addition, tasked with identifying and implementing potential enhancements to Andrew Wagner's Excel-based tool used for fitting substrate curvature data for characterization of stress in individual coating layers and/or multilayer coating stacks (e.g., refining/improving the fitting of the baseline substrate curvature data and the coated substrate curvature data).
  • Tasked to assess potential correlations between the coating's intrinsic stress and the mechanical durability of the coating via one or more tests (e.g., Taber Abrasion Test, Wet Rub Test, Glove Rub Test, Wet Brush Test, Dry Brush Test).
